Pond Build ....

Now that the fish were housed in the holding tank work could start on what was to be the biggest home project i had ever taken on, i was looking to build the pond about 3-4 thousand gallons and due to the fact that we had a 3 year old in the house, safety was paramount, so a seating area was added to the design which would have a fence all the way around so as the only access would be through a gate. Filtration planned was a Evolution Aqua Nexus 200 for the airated bottom drain and an Evolution Aqua Easypod on the skimmer line. Heating had also been planned and this was to be by gas boiler .

Firstly the shape was decided, the rope was laid on the ground and the digging began and the top layer of turf was soon off.

I had the idea that i could build a framework and cover the area with tarpaulin, but the wind and rain decided they wanted to demolish this so it was soon taken down.
